Week 3: Cases and examples of implementation of learning analytics analytics
Date: February 6 - February 12

Examples of learning analytics implementations are still somewhat limited in education. This is largely due to the fairly recent adoption of LA and the still emerging research base. On the one hand, researchers are developing a growing body of evidence of LA in specific areas of the learning process: social networks, discourse analysis, concept development, etc. Systemic deployments of LA are still largely in development and generally are not reflected in research literature. That will no doubt change over the next few years as more schools, universities, and colleges either adopt existing analytics platforms (DegreeWorks, Blackboard Analytics) or begin to develop their own tools. Or, as we'll discuss in week 7, begin to collaborate with others in the development of an open learning analytics toolset.

John Campbell from Purdue will be our guest presenter this week on Tues, Feb 7 at 3:00 pm EST (Time zone conversions). The session will be held here in Blackboard Collaborate.
